Progress on #38 Read all the books on my bookshelf

It is quite possible that I am VERY close to being done with this goal. I finished a book a couple days ago and finally got around to grabbing another and starting it today. As soon as I started it, I realized that I had already read it. Then I scanned my bookshelf and there's only a couple books that I'm sure I haven't read yet. So I'm going to make a quick list... right now. My bookshelf isn't all that stocked so it won't take long....

  • The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
  • The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
  • Brick Lane by Monica Ali
  • Once in a House on Fire by Andrea Ashworth
  • A Million Little Pieces by James Frey
  • Thank You for Smoking by Christopher Buckley
  • The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf
  • Don't Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson
  • Alices Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
  • Price and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  • Gandhi an Autobiography
  • A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
  • My Life by Bill Clinton
  • The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama
  • The Art of Innovation by Tom Kelley with Jonathan Littman
  • My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
  • Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
  • New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
  • Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
  • Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
  • A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
  • Rebel Angels by Libba Bray
  • The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
  • Atonement by Ian McEwan
  • The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides
  • Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
  • The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards
  • The Reader by Bernhard Schlink
  • Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
  • Driving with Dead People by Monica Holloway
  • The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
  • The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
  • Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination by Helen Fielding
  • The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
  • Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
  • The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
  • Love Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos
Making this list was an awesome idea. I am full of awesome ideas. I realize a few things now... a) I really don't have that many books, b) I need to get books back from people I lent them too, and find my old books at my parents house and c) There are only a few books left on my bookshelf that I haven't read, and I need to reassess whether or not I actually WANT to read them. The last thing here is important. Reading shouldn't be an annoying task - it's for FUN... and sometimes we buy books with the intention of reading them and they just don't turn out to be something you'd consider pleasurable.

I'm going to come back when I have some more time and break this list down a bit more.

Hooray for some work done towards achieving this goal! :D

xoxo
