#17 Go on a Hike

I completely forgot about the hiking trip my friend planned this past weekend for her birthday, until she sent me an itinerary a few days before.

How convenient for me - I needed to get out on a hike before the summer ended and this was a great one.

I left Friday after work to drive up to the Marin Headlands where I followed signs that said "Hostel" (with a pointing arrow) to find the place we were staying. As lame as this may sound, I was really excited to stay in a hostel. If you know anything about me, you know that I LOVE scary movies and love being scared even more.

That being said, the hostel was actually very pleasant. It was a little stuffy, but the kitchen was big, and clean, and
the common areas were nice. The dorms weren't bad either. There were nine of us girls, split into two eight bed hostels. There were many warning signs about Stubby... the hotel "pet"

Back to the hiking... we went on a short 20 minute night hike (some would call it a walk) from the hostel to the beach... it was super creepy to walk through the woodsy areas at night... I loved it!

So, Saturday morning, we got up and drove down to Muir Woods where we hiked up the Ocean View Trail, and at some point were also on the Fern (something) Trail and ended up on Lost Trail up to the highway...

...the way up was a little tough, but not bad at all. We passed by a group of about 18 firemen and Paramedics taking a woman down on a stretcher... it was an interesting start. But honestly, I enjoyed every minute of it. It was SO AMAZING out - not too hot, not too cold. Everything smelled clean and fresh and simple. And everything was so beautiful.

Thanks to my lovely Erin and her lovely friends who are all awesome and all so active... and motivating! I had an amazing time and I cannot wait to go again.

  1. Awesome! And, you went on a mini hike this weekend--in flat flip flops before 9am on a Sunday! You are quickly becoming a convert and I love it :)
